Hats and Snapbacks.

Hi all!

As usual, I am starting with an apology and a not so valid excuse- I have had work. But everyone has, so I apologise. Thank you to all the people who have kept on viewing though- the pageview count has not been dramatically affected and I still feel that urge to continue. I won't give up yet.

So as winter is coming, all my posts have been about winter related items: fur, boots etc. And now to continue with the term: Hats.

First of all: snapbacks. On guys- maybe. On girls- no. Of course there are some excusable events, for example the typical "I was in Miami Bitch" snapback, and I am not saying this with a grudge against snapbacks themselves but usually you look really, really shit in them. I remember the first time I tried on a snapback (I wasn't planning on buying it) and I looked like Mario- literally. Having brown hair didn't make that any better. On the other hand guys can look good in them.. for example, Justin Bieber, who the majority of you will hate, but in that respect I have to step out of my mainstream positioning and confess that I am a true Belieber at heart.

However, other hats with less-in-your-face colouring and a flattering shape can look amazing. Some can't pull of hats and you all know who you are. I think each hat is accustomed to a different person. For example, when I was younger I wore a beret, and now I look back on those pictures and whack myself because they concept of me wearing a beret is just too humiliating. For hats- I strongly recommend Liberty in London- so beautiful.

Just look around, I think it is a concept of trying things on.  But most importantly, only wear one if you feel confident in it. If you wear anything and feel really self conscious you look awful- thats why celebrities look so damn good the whole time.

Lots of love,
Izzie

The phases of my wardrobe

Hi all!

Today, rather than a rant or a piece of advice I would like to tell a story, It's story time. This story is that of my wardrobe. Along with myself, my wardrobe has changed so much but I am not proud (on any level) of the clothes I wore only a few years ago.

1. The kid age. Everyone has this, it's when your parents dress you. Mine dressed me in little frocks with frills but to be honest it is better than dressing your child in a track suit. My favourite item at this time was my first pair of heels. I remember they were one inch (and that is big for someone who was 1 m) and pink! I was 4, so it was quite young to have heels, but I loved them so much.

2. The year 7 phase. (Shiver). This is the phase I am least proud of and I certainly am never going back. My wardrobe consisted of what I now call the dreaded 3: Abercrombie, Hollistrr, and Juicy Couture. So, perhaps one of these items aren't bad.. But everything I wore was from these brands. I even had Juicy Couture pants, which I would wear with my matching Juicy Couture track suit on top of a bright pink Hollister t-shirt. Ew.

2. The Cath Kidston phase. Maybe I didn't wear Cath Kidston, but I was obsessed with Cath Kidston. I had the spots, flowers, the sewing book, the pencil case, the manicure set. EVERYTHING. My chair was even Cath Kidston (I actually still have that chair but I have reupholstered it is a purple suede- do not threat). Although, on a side note I do think that Cath Kidston is adorable for country cottages.

3. The Topshop phase. I still buy things from Topshop- I know I wrote a post on how it was heading down hill but it's on it's way back up again. However, my whole wardrobe was Topshop. People would ask me "Ooh.. Where's that from?" and I would always say "Topshop." Eventually the would either stop asking because they knew the answer or they would ask rhetorically and reply themselves.

4. Now. I buy from a lot of place at the moment, perhaps my wardrobe does majorities in Zara but I think it is good to have a bit of everything (nice).

At the moment, I like my style and I hope that it has come to a good standing point. But who knows, I could hate it in a few years time.

But why does fashion change so much within one individual person? Who knows, but I call it fashion evolution.

Lots of Love,
Izzie xx

Transforming your wardrobe: Changing seasons

Hi all!

One of the greatest things about seasons changing is that you can buy a whole new wardrobe! The plus side about buying a whole new wardrobe is that you get a whole new style- you can redefine the new you. But if you're planning on doing that this post will be completely irrelevant to you. If, on the other hand, you like your style and you like your summer clothes you can easily turn your summer wardrobe into a winter wardrobe with just a few simple items and tips.

It is negotiable whether you want to spend money on having a new winter wardrobe, but it is not up for discussion whether you get a new wardrobe. Please, I beg you, do not be the girl who is wearing shorts, a cami and sandals in winter. You look stupid, and not only that you will freeze. Fine, wear shorts with tights, perhaps not when it's snowing but don't wear them the whole time- spread your horizons a little.

Firstly, to transform your summer wardrobe into a winter wardrobe you need to understand the art of layering. You can't go out in December wearing a sleeveless blouse or a peter pan collared top, but no one has to know how light and inappropriate the top is. My solution? Wear a plain knit jumper over it and let the collar pup up over the U- neck rim. Not only this but play around with tights, cardigans, jackets and especially heavy belts. Belts aren't insulating at all but for some reason they make you look so much more appropriately dresses. So, if you have another summer top- add a cardigan, wear it with some jeans, tuck it in loosely and add a belt. TADA.

Secondly, the winter coat. The MOST important thing involved with winter. You need a coat, especially over here. But which one? Well, it depends how many you're buying. I think the most important thing is that it is either black or a very dark shade of brown/ blue. There are endless amounts of coats like this. Barbour jackets are popular, leather jackets (but hardly a coat) and just the normal coat. Once you have a black one ticked off you can go for it. Get one with fur, get every colour of the rainbow, get animal print or checkered print. The list is endless, get the basics and go on.

And Finally, invest in cardigans. Similar to point 2, but honestly, get as many as you can. Because they go with everything as long as you have the right type and if you have the wrong type, well then you look like a granny.

And that is the simple formula for a conversion of your wardrobe.

Lots of Love,

Izzie xx
